Here we are back at it again with a brain-spanking new episode of Doomed Society Radio (Redux)! Continue reading
What up, nerds?
If you didn’t know already, Doomed Society Radio has partnered up with Ash Fault Radio from Toronto. We unleashed our latest show last week, and it seems that some of you enjoyed it. Aw, thanks.
Eh up, ya fucks!
I’m stoked to announce that Doomed Society Radio has returned after more than two years! We’ve partnered with ASH FAULT RADIO outta Toronto, and will be producing a new hour(ish)-long show every two weeks! I’ll be making those episodes available to download the following Monday after they initially air.
So, without further ado, go check out the new show!
We’ve been toying with this idea since the dawn of the Trump regime.
Over the last few years, radical anti-authoritarian politics have been on the rise throughout the “western world”. In the age of Trump, the stakes are that much higher. While the “radical left” (for lack of a better term) has been on the rise, unfortunately so have the extreme right. As such, it’s become clear that anarchist prisoner support networks are more important now than ever.
This week Doomed Society decided that while it’s all well and good to donate to huge organizations like the ACLU, there are some truly revolutionary groups on a much more grassroots level who need every penny they can get. With that in mind, we’re starting work on a compilation cassette and zine to benefit the Anarchist Black Cross Federation.
This compilation is tentatively titled “…But Not Forgotten.”
We want to have this out and in circulation by the end of spring. Every penny from the sales of this tape will go to the ABC Federation.
Since making the idea semi-public on social media, there has been much interest from musicians, artists, and other labels to pitch in. With this momentum, we’re extremely excited to get this project on the go!
So far we have an exciting mix of bands and artists from all over the punk rock spectrum, from folk, to street punk, to crust, to metal. This will feature a mix of previously-released tracks, and never-before heard exclusives from well-known and criminally-unknown acts. To say that we’re stoked on this would be an understatement!
Stay tuned for updates. Can’t say too much yet, but there are some very exciting bands involved already!
Coming up on August 8th, we’ve got a mad blast of brutal noise on a Monday night!
On their way back home from a massive cross-country tour, the mighty Iskra are making their second appearance Calgary appearance of the summer. They’ve got a completely different setlist for this show, so be sure to come out! If you missed their all ages show earlier this month, you really need to come to this show!
Joining them for this s
how are Calgary grindcore heroes Wake, who certainly need no introduction. After all, they’ve made a major mark on the extreme music community all over the world. Not bad for a bunch of prairie heshers, no? Be sure to pick up a copy of their new record at this show.
One of the best new bands in this one-horse town will be kicking off the night. Of course I’m ta
lking about the mad heads known as Licorice. Fast hardcore with elements of sludge? Hey, why not. Hard to pigeonhole, but hard not to love.
You should take Tuesda
y off of work. Just a heads up.
Midnight Records will be on hand selling records, and be sure to bring extra cash for merch! Iskra’s got some really nice embroidered patches and brand new shirt designs this time around!
